Obstacles for Team Australia as they Gear Up for the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics in Winter
Final touches for the Australian Winter Olympic team for Milano-Cortina 2026 have faced a major blockade. During a staff pre-Games training camp in Europe that was very critical, two support members tested positive for COVID-19. The team which is presently on the last phase of acclimatization and fine-tuning is now following a set of strict health protocols.
The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) officials have confirmed these positive cases late yesterday. The affected individuals are said to be asymptomatic and are now secluding themselves according to local health regulations and the proposals of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the 2026 Games. The AOC, on the other hand, has swiftly implemented its thorough contingency plans that were created after the experiences of the Tokyo and Beijing Games.
Geoff Lipshut, the Chef de Mission for the Australian Winter Olympic Team, spoke about the issue with a calm manner. He mentioned that the top priority is the safety and health of athletes and staff. The affected staff are well and we are taking all necessary measures to make this disruption as minimal as possible. Our athletes’ focus is still on target.
